robert rettger 2010 portfolio

I live, work, and study in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Il. As the son of a career programmer, computers have always been present in my life. My first web sites date back seven or eight years though they were nothing of note visually. I bought this current domain about seven years ago for my first portfolio and have since used it for all new versions. Unfortunately, I do not have the screen shots or the original files of previous designs. There are two in particular which I wish were still available.

I have used many programs to date. I am proficient with Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, 3D Studios Max, Adobe Photoshop, AfterFX, Premiere, Audition, Soundbooth, Dreamweaver, and Flash (AS2... learning AS3 now). In addition, I have a fairly good understanding of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. I typically pick up programs and programming languages quickly.

In addition to programs, I am proficient with HTML and Action Script 2. I have a good foundation in XML, CSS, PHP, and ASP wherein I can get things off to a great start and then spend some time learning how to get where I know I need to be. This site is powered entirely by CSS, PHP, and some XHTML.

I spend most of my time working in 3D environments. I know the ins and outs of 3D Studios Max, Autodesk's flagship modeling/animation/rendering application. My first polygon model was made more than five years ago... I have since grown beyond still renders into animations and compositing 3D environments with filmed scenes. I also have mastered the practical side of modeling offered by Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor designed for actual production and milling. This is especially notable due to interoperability between the programs.
